Project Overview
The Bushwick Starr is an Obie Award-winning nonprofit theater and neighborhood arts center in Brooklyn. With a new permanent home, the organization needed a website that could introduce more people to its adventurous work and the community around it. We partnered with Studio Usher to bring that next chapter to life on Squarespace.
The Problem
The Starr had outgrown a website built for an earlier stage of the organization. Theatergoers, artists, neighbors, donors and funders arrived with different questions. The challenge was to help each audience explore the organization while preserving the personality of a theater known for original work.
The Solution
Studio Usher led strategy, creative direction and website design. We translated that vision into a working Squarespace experience, collaborating on the details that carried the design onto the screen. The site connects performances, neighborhood programs and opportunities to support the Starr, with information available in English and Spanish.
Outcome
The live website brings the Starr’s artistic work and community role together, with direct routes to current productions and events. The collaboration was featured in Squarespace’s September 2026 Circle Project Spotlight newsletter.
